Hey, ya'll - I promised to be better with posting, and then I wait 4 days to turn around another one! I'm already slacking! It's been another busy week, though - we had our firm open house last night which was a big success (some pics to follow later). By the way, I want to thank all of you for the very kind comments and welcoming me back from my blogging hiatus with open arms. This slacker doesn't deserve such treatment!
SO.........
Where was I? Oh yes, I left you all hanging on the last post with the promise that I would share the gender of Baby #2! I wish I had an ultrasound picture scanned to include with this post, but unfortunately I have (temporarily) misplaced them somewhere - pregnancy brain strikes again, imagine that! I'm sure they are around here somewhere, not something we would throw away.
So a few weeks ago we were scheduled to go first thing in the morning for our ultrasound. Ryan and Alexandra went with me - I'm glad that they could be there to share in that moment. I had no premonitions on the gender of this one (nor did I with Alexandra). However, on the way to the OB's office, I said out loud to myself (Alexandra was too busy listening to her Elmo CD), "It's a boy."
We walked into the ultrasound room and the little babe flashed on the screen. The sonographer immediately moved to the "money shot" and I could tell in an instant that it was a ...
BOY!
There was no mistaking it, my little man had flashed himself proudly for his little family to see. At that moment, I found myself somewhat in shock (and remained in that state for quite a while, I might add). While I always said leading up to the ultrasound that I'd be fine with either boy or girl - which was definitely a true statement - I believe subconsciously I was hoping for another girl. I have a sister and it is a tremendous bond that I hoped Alexandra might enjoy, as well (again, this is not to say that brothers and sisters cannot develop deep bonds, too!). Furthermore, this is the FIRST boy on my father's side in some 60 years. Even now, a few weeks after finding out, I'm not all that positive I will know what TO DO with a little boy! It's so hard to switch gears from pink and girlie to little boy things. I had a mini-hormonal breakdown the evening we found out that I can laugh about now. I was looking online at all of the little boy clothing (which, I'm sad to say, is just not as cute as little girl clothing) and seeing all of the little trucks and superheroes, etc. I came downstairs, teary-eyed, and told Ryan (between tears), "I just don't know what to do with a boy! I know nothing about fire trucks and construction equipment and sports and...." Ryan, ever the calm one, said, "That's all? You think I knew what to do with a girl and look at how well we've done with Alexandra." That boy always puts things in perspective.
I don't want this to sound like I'm complaining, not in the least bit! I'm thrilled to pieces to be having a boy - it will definitely be an adventure. I love hearing friends who are moms to little boys state that, no matter what, "Little boys ALWAYS love their mommies!" I definitely like the sound of that. :)
So there you have it, the cat is out of the bag! We will have one of each, the best of both worlds!

I still don't know what to do with boys and I've had 3 years of practice! There's always something new to learn but I just tell myself I'd have similar questions if I was dealing with girls. I just can't wait to meet the little guy!
Congratulations!

i've heard this a million times and i believe it to be true, but it takes a special person to raise a boy. you are going to be a fantastic mommy to this little man and i'm so excited for you and your family!!!

Congrats on the BOY! That is very exciting! So happy for you guys!
A boy! Yay! I'm gonna have to keep having babies until we get one. Thanks for sharing your big news with us. I always say that pregnancy is the worst time to deal with all you have to deal with when you are pregnant. (Does that make sense?) We are just TOO hormonal and emotional to think clearly...I'm convinced that's why there are so many weird baby names ;)
Congrats! on a little boy! i only have girls, so i don't know a lot about little boys...but them seem to love their mommies a lot!
congrats! boys are seriously so much fun:)
Congrats! So exciting!
Yea! How exciting! That's just like us, a girl, then a boy. I was the same way - I only knew about little girls. But, my little guy is amazing and yes, they do adore their mommies! All the time he says, "I love you, Mommy!" and then gives me hugs and kisses. Congrats!
