I generally love this time of year - the leaves start to fall, pumpkins make their debut on porches as homeowners begin to decorate for Halloween, football season is in full force, there's a crisp chill in the air....wait a minute, Sara, not so fast. It's supposed to be 90 degrees today in Louisville. As anyone who has lived in Kentucky for five minutes or more can tell you, Kentucky weather is nothing if not unpredictable. Where else can you experience balmy temperatures one week, and then two feet of snow the next week right before you leave for Florida for spring break (as all of you UK grads will recall from March of 1998)? The weather really is what makes the fall season, so I'm definitely ready for a nice cold front to come through. I tried to make a big pot of potato soup the other night to get myself in the mood for fall, but it just doesn't work when people are still wearing shorts outside!! The sooner the cool weather gets here, the better, so everyone else can start breaking out their sweaters and jeans for those evening football games . . . as for me, the cool weather will probably arrive when I'm ready to start squeezing into those every so lovely maternity clothes!!
