A Star Is Born

Ryan and I welcomed our beautiful baby girl, Alexandra Grace, into the world on Sunday, May 4, 2008. She was born at 8:49 p.m., and weighed in at 7 lbs., 6 oz., and measured just shy of 19 inches. I was induced on Sunday morning because there were some mild concerns about Alexandra's abdomen measuring on the small size. The decision was ultimately made to perform a c-section to get her out that evening after I failed to progress despite frequent, strong contractions. It was also discovered during the surgery that Alexandra was turned on her side, which was a major cause of the lack of progression. With all that being said, she is perfectly healthy and happy with no health issues, thank God.

I wish I could put into words the emotions I experienced during delivery, during the birth of my child, and in the days that have passed since Alexandra's birth, but I don't think I could do it justice. She is a precious miracle that we have been blessed with, and Ryan and I feel complete now that she is at home with us. There have been many sleepless nights(!!), but I would go through a million of them just to have her in my life.

I am still pretty drained, but I wanted to post a few of the many pictures that were taken at the hospital:

Ryan loved his surgical scrubs:

Thanks to all of you, dear friends and family, for all of your support during my pregnancy and the birth of our daughter. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers as the Davis family embarks on this newest adventure.

Love,
Sara
