Those that know me personally are fully aware of the various colors and styles my hair has gone through over the years - I am nothing short of a chameleon, my pictures are always different! While I have been quite adventurous with different hair colors (though I'm usually some shade of blonde), the same cannot be said for the length of my hair. I have always kept it relatively long, and right now I'd say it hits around 5 inches past my shoulders. In a couple of weeks, however, my long hair will no longer exist as I have decided to chop it all off! It's a scary thought, since I've always had long hair and it does not grow quickly, but I have decided I need a change. I have gone so far as to book the appointment so I am committed to the act. I made sure to schedule the appointment after Labor Day weekend - some dear friends of ours, Andy and Amanda, are getting married and Ryan and I are both in the wedding, so I am considering the wedding to be the last hurrah for my long hair and hope to have it in some fabulous updo before it's too short to even put it in a ponytail.
Despite my fear, I am also excited to have a new style, since I feel like I have had the same boring long-layered cut for several years. Also, it will be nice to not have to pull my hair out of the tight grasp of Alexandra's little hands - plus, I am cautiously optimistic that it won't require as much time to style my hair in the mornings.
Here's some pics I have pulled off the internet of the general look I am going for, but I would love to have some other pics to take with me to my stylist. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
I really like Jenny McCarthy's style:

These pictures are from an In Style magazine photo shoot Katie Holmes did several months ago, at which time I loved her hair cut - I hate her current cut, it looks like a mop and is SO frumpy:

I also liked Ellen Barkin's hairstyle from when she was in Ocean's Thirteen:

I used a Katie Holmes picture but it was the one right before the cut you are showing, it was a touch longer and a little less bangs. Its a picture of her in Germany in the tan leather jacket, it was everywhere. I will see if I can find it!
Well I'm partial to the Jenny McCarthy one but then again I'm partial to her in general! Wow, I can't wait to see the finished product. I've never seen you with short hair but I totally understand your reasons for the change. I've been debating the same issue for months now. I'm still searching for the perfect style. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the 3 cuts. Good luck!
MHO--After my experience over the past year with short hair, I think you will prefer the Jenny cut.
I had Katie's cut last summer (when she first chopped it)and it was a pain in the ass(ets) to make the three inches above the nape of my neck behave, and knowing that you have naturally curly hair I think you may have the same experience (unlike our friends Tash-mama and Cat). Also it took a full nine awkward months for me to grow all the little layers out into Jenny's length.
A couple months ago, I had a similar bob to Jenny and it was oh-so-easy. A quick blowdry and a run over with the flat iron, and I was ready to go. Also, you can at least pull back the front of the Jenny bob if you are working out/at the beach as compared to Katie's where the only options are bobby pin's/headband with a crazy mane exploding behind (I was compared to Medusa while in Florida).
Anyway--just thought I'd share my experience. I think either will look great on you, but just thought you should be aware that Katie's cut prob requires more time than your long hair does now.
Can't wait to see you this weekend, and I hope to see Alexandra too!
