I started reading the instruction manual this weekend ... you know you're in trouble when some of the terminology used in the "Getting Started" chapter makes no sense to you whatsoever! I definitely need to sign up for one of the introductory classes offered at the camera shop. With that being said, I have thankfully been able to figure out some of the basics of the camera and have captured a few shots of my favorite subject. Even with my VERY limited knowledge as to the ins and outs of this camera, I'm already thrilled with the quality of the pictures I'm getting. I think I have found a new hobby...now if I could only find some time to carve out of my schedule to develop this hobby!
Here's some of my handiwork:

How exciting! First of all, those pictures look great. Second, I have asked for the xti for Christmas and I'm so excited!!
we have the same camera and love it too! and how could you possibly go wrong with such a cute model! seriously though, i love the new pics, especially the black & white one
Thanks! I find myself acting like a kid in a candy store - I can't wait to discover all the different features of the camera.
By the way, would you mind sending me an invite to view your blog?? You've left so many nice comments here and I'd love to check out your blog! My email is sdavis@gsmblaw.com - thanks!
Thanks Tina! My husband watching a game on the tv and following another game on the computer, and his daughter and dog stretched out beside him - I don't think it gets much better than that for him!
I have been so close to throwing my camera out the window so many times. It's just not fast enough, there's a bad glare, etc, etc. I guess I need to get online and do my research like you did. What were your ultimate reasons for choosing this one?
Those were the exact same reasons why I wanted a DSLR! I think the main selling points for me on the Canon were (1) we are familiar with Canons (we have a PowerShot), (2)slightly better price, (3) continuous shooting, and (4)more compatability with lenses,
Yep, the Powershot is what I have too. There's still time, maybe I can ask my dad for this for Christmas!!
I got a Canon Rebel about a year and a half ago and still have not cracked the user manual. How pitiful is that. My husband tells me it's no biggie...I've never read a single parenting book either and my kids seem to be "working" ok - ha! The great thing about your camera is, even with little or no knowledge about what to do, they still take really great pictures.
