Dearest Target,
We have had a lovely relationship for more years than I can count. Many a good deal and a few steals I have found within your well-stocked aisles. In law school, I would frequently drive past a Meijer, Wal-Mart & K-Mart (all within 2 miles of my condo, I might add) just to see what kinds of fun things could be found on an run of the mill trip to pick up a tube of toothpaste. I often told my husband before he had experienced all of your greatness that one could enter your store with the intention of picking up aforementioned toothpaste and easily spend $100 or more on all kinds of neat "stuff." He didn't believe me, but don't you worry Target - he has seen the error of his ways and is now a Target devotee.
It was the icing on the cake two years ago when we moved to Louisville to discover that a Target store was less than 1 mile from our home. I found myself often stating, "Boy, am I in trouble," as I could literally WALK to your store. Maybe we were spoiled by the close proximity of your store, which would explain the difficulty we are experiencing in accepting that you have recently CLOSED our neighborhood store. It doesn't mend our broken hearts to learn that you are opening a Super Target in the same location at the end of October 2009...OCTOBER?!?! You mean we are going to have to hike across town to the nearest Target for nine months?? That's like an eternity - trust me, having been pregnant I can speak to how long 9 months can really seem.
We are completely heartbroken. We might even have to make a trip or two (gulp) to Wal-Mart till you deem all St. Matthews residents worthy of your super store.

Hilarious yet so true! I would venture to say that both Wes' and my wardrobe consists of at least 25% Target merchandise (Wes' even more than that)! Just think of the things to come. Your previous 9-month wait was certainly worth waiting for and I have no doubt this new SUPER Target will exceed any expectations you might have had previously. They don't call it Super for nothing!
My condolences. I have to live and work within 5 minutes of one at all times, so I understand.
this is terrible news indeed but please, i urge you, do not fall to the temptation of wal-mart....netflix "the high cost of low prices" and you'll know why driving 'cross town to another target is a must
Very funny. I can sympathize with your loss. It will be a long wait. Wally World just doesn't hold a candle to TarJ. :)
