I've been dreading the moment that separation anxiety would start to hit our household, but I think it has finally hit. Since Saturday morning, Alexandra has been getting pretty upset anytime I leave the room - this could be separation anxiety, but maybe it is just that she wants some extra soothing while she is sick (Double ear infections!! Poor little thing.) Either way, she is not a happy camper unless she can see me. At first, I considered it sweet that she wanted her mommy close by - however, as the weekend progressed, I found it increasingly difficult to get much of anything done. I even had to take her to the bathroom with me!! Mommies out there who read my blog - what do you think?? Does this sound like separation anxiety?? If so, how long should I expect this to last??

She will probably get better as she feels better. Everybody wants Mommy when there sick--no matter how old you are!!! We enjoy seeing all her pictures and hearing about all she does. I personally love all the pictures with Pearl!! A dog makes a big difference in a child's life. Love ya'll. Carolyn
Ella does this at times too. I think they just go through phases? When she is like this I just try to remember that one day she probably won't let me hold her at all.
I agree with the previous comment, I think it goes in phases. Colin is still clingy and has plenty of days when only Mommy will do. I laughed at your bathroom comment because Colin sits on my lap in the bathroom any chance he gets! He's always been a clingy child though, so maybe that's just his personality. Alexandra sounds like she's seeking your comfort because she doesn't feel well. It's hard to get upset though when they just want to be close!
Carolyn - thanks for the sweet words. I'm glad you all enjoy the pictures, I thought you and Helen would like the ones of her with Pearl! By the way, Alexandra loves playing with the toy you all got her for Christmas - I'll have to post some pictures of her playing with it. Now that she is sitting pretty good, it's getting a lot of use. The only hard thing is keeping the little balls away from Pearl!
Elizabeth and Danielle - I agree, I think it just might be a clingy phase that is further pronounced due to her sickness. Don't get me wrong, I don't necessarily mind it - she's my little girl and I love to have her near me as much as possible! However, it can also be a tad bit frustrating as nothing seems to get done - not frustrated with her, just the situation in general, I guess. I realized Monday morning that it was the first time I had stepped foot out of our house since Friday night - I didn't get outside once over the weekend!! :)
