it's hard to believe that sesame street has been in existence this long and is still going strong with no signs of stopping. (check out this article about the importance of this pbs juggernaut). it's nothing short of amazing that a program that enthralled me as a little girl is now providing entertainment to **my** little girl. i don't want alexandra to be hooked on television (i limit our daily sesame street intake), but i see the value in sesame street. becoming reacquainted with the sesame street crew over the past few months and watching elmo and gang through my daughter's eyes has been a joy. her favorite character is - of course - elmo (however, she has also started saying "coo coo" anytime cookie monster comes on the scene). that's why i find it so interesting to see that elmo is voiced by this guy:

how does such a high-pitched little voice come from such a big guy?! you can read more about kevin clash, aka the voice of elmo, here.
i also love that the first lady helped celebrate the big birthday:
happy fortieth sesame street, here's to forty more!

Adorable! The wee one is a bit small to get the big deal, but he also loves him some Elmo (as did eldest when she was younger).
Thanks for stopping by my blog, Sara! I was looking for someone to revamp mine, saw yours as an example on a design site, and have really enjoyed reading about you and your family.
They're beautiful!
I wish I knew more about my camera-other than it's a Nikon-but since it was a gift from my brother-in-law, everything came ready to go. I'll ask him, though! You're not the first to ask.
Have a wonderful day.

I saw Kevin on the Food Network with Bobby Flay one day and was shocked how deep his real voice is. Pretty cool, really!
I remember when my son was a little younger 7:37 every morning was when I could grab an 8 minute shower because that's when Elmo's World was coming on! Isn't it so funny to see the voice behind Elmo....your daughter is adorable!
It's hard to believe Sesame Street is the big 4-0. I grew up with it and I love the fact that while they've introduced a lot of new characters and situations to keep up with the times, there are some favorites songs and skits still featured (Ladybug Picnic, anyone?). Great post!
