New Friends

In the past few days, I've become very close with a few new friends, and I'd love to introduce you...

So there not be any doubt, let me make this clear - MORNING SICKNESS SUCKS...for a variety of reasons:

(1) It isn't just the morning, but afternoon sickness and evening sickness, too.

(2) No food sounds appetizing, but you basically have to eat your way through the sickness to feel better (oh hello there, early extra poundage!).

(3) Of course, it's always a gamble as to whether the food you eat will make the nausea that.much.worse.

I guess I've been pretty lucky, it's just mild to moderate nausea off and on throughout the day - I haven't actually gotten sick. I had very little morning sickness with Alexandra - just a couple of episodes where I made something and the smell turned my stomach and then it was over within a matter of minutes. I'm very hopeful that this ends in a couple of weeks!

Oh, and in case you were wondering about my third friend - that is a product with the unfortunate name of "Preggie Pops". (And speaking of unfortunate, isn't that the worst packaging? I don't know any pregnant woman that even remotely resembles that woman with her terribly ugly sunhat and sundress.) They are hard candy drops that have ginger in them and therefore help alleviate some of the nausea. Interestingly, when my sweet Pappa was battling nausea as a result of his daily morphine in the last year of his life, I suggested to my Mom that they look into these for Pappa, figuring what the hell, they might just work. The crazy thing is that they did help him! I bet the manufacturers never anticipated a man in his 80s using Preggie Pops! The container I have right now was a leftover container of Pappa's pops that my Mom brought up for me this weekend.

oh morning sickness...the reason I don't think I will have another child. (I got sick 2-3 times A DAY from 6 weeks until 24 weeks with both girls!) Saltines & cereal were the only things I could keep down. Hang in there & I hope you get some relief soon!

Oh gosh, I remember those days! Unfortunately I didn't learn about preggie pops until after the morning (all day) sickness had dissipated, but I was sure I'd turn into a saltine cracker, I ate so many of them! Hope you get to feeling better, the first trimester is always tough!

with the girls i never was sick, but i felt sick all of the time and all day all. i could not get out of bed without toast and something to drink.
and i sucked on Preggie Pops all of the time and the took the end off, which was all i needed.

after 9 week so of no dt. coke, i had to have it and it helped to. i think the bubbles helped my tummy feel better.

by about week 16 i was feeling better. hang in there.

Ugh, bless your heart. I know girls who have gone to sleep with crackers on their bedside table. When they wake up, they very slowly and gingerly move nothing but their arm to the table and eat all of the crackers before they even get up. Apparently, it helps a little!

So sorry about the morning sickness :( I wish I had some good tips & tricks, but my early days with both sound pretty similar to what you experienced with A. Maybe the differences suggest a bouncing baby boy...? :)

God love you! Your new diet just sounds, well, familiar. I'm glad the Preggie Pops are working for you - they did for me the second time too. NOTHING that actually tasted like ginger helped me. Turns out, I actually hate ginger. Stocked up on all things ginger at the health food store and shortly threw them away. Grease, like it helps a hangover, worked the best for me. My booty will attest. Oh, and I don't think this means anything in determining the sex of the baby. Two Girls (can) = Two Totally Different Pregnancies!!

Aww, you poor thing! I hope you are feeling better soon!

And you're right about the odd packaging on the Preggie Pops. Hubs saw me looking at your blog and noticed the picture of the pops and asked "What is that?!?!" Haha

Hang in there. I ended up on Zofran during both pregnancies b/c my morning sickness was so severe. It sounds like you're doing better though. I remember the key was never allow for an empty stomach - always have those crackers with you!
