"Hoo" Loves You Baby

Since finding out we were having a boy, I have remained stumped - until recently that is! - as to how to decorate his room. I didn't want it to be too frilly (which would have been easy to do given our exposure to all things pink and girly the past 2 1/2 years with Alexandra!), but I also didn't want to go the opposite direction with something "all boy" like trucks, tractors, etc. (No offense to any who go that route, it just wasn't what I wanted).

Imagine my delight when I stumbled across the following bedding set from Carousel Designs:

Isn't it adorable? I love the owl print fabric - kind of retro. The shade of blue is beautiful, and I was sold at the chevron bedskirt (I have a great love for all things chevron, as if you couldn't tell from my blog background).

I've had a blast looking for owl decor on the web - I might be going a TAD over the edge with the owl theme, I'm going to have to pull myself back! (And no, I wasn't a Chi Omega in college!)

Picked up this very cute owl lamp from Target - the base is more of a deep brown, not black as it appears in the photo. I'm considering painting the owl base white and then covering the shade in the same chevron fabric as the crib skirt - what do you think?

I was out buying some Christmas presents last week and ran into Z Gallerie, where I found the cutest owl bank at the most ridiculously low price:

Plus these really pretty frames that I think match the blue in the bedding pretty well:

There will be a collage of these cute owl prints on the wall that I purchased from this Etsy seller:

I think I've reached my limit in all things owl, don't you? Along the way, though, I've bookmarked some other owl decor that I thought would be perfect for a nursery...

Like this little owl clock:

And this growth chart:

As I type this post, Baby Boy is rolling around all over the place, so I am going to take that as a sign that he likes his new room! I will be sure to post pictures of the finished product.

Just checking in---I love the owl theme-adorable! I saw a white owl lamp maybe form West Elm-not sure. Also, don't be afraid to go a little frilly with boys. Cash and Cillian had all light blue in their wardrobe until they were 2 (Cillian) and Cash (I still hunt for it and he is almost 5). The nursery has blue/white gingham silk Roman shades, bedskirt and matching lambshade(DIY). It would be adorable if you could find light blue/brown silk fabric to make window shades and also lamp shade to match, course I am a nut about thinking of a certain pattern and then finding it!
Your Ideas are Gorgeous--that is ok to say for a boy:)
Merry Christmas!

How ADORABLE! Love the owls and the touch of retro chevron! I knew that I was going to do a "vintage" rock and roll theme for Henry's room right away. Isn't it so amazing when all of a sudden it all just starts to come together? Now, if I could just find the perfect boy clothing...girl clothing is sooooo much better! :) Can't wait to see it all put together...it will look SUPER! You have such a great eye!

I LOVE IT!! I can't wait to do another nursery. How much fun!
I love the Chevron and the Owls. My vote (for what it is worth) is to leave the lamp alone- espically since you have the white bank.
LOVE those ETSY prints too.
GOOD WORK MOMMMA!

Love it! I actually ordered a couple fabrics from Carousel myself. Mainly they were for a girl but one might work for Wheeler. can't wait to see the nursery all pulled together.

Love it! I did a bird theme in Margaret's room and had an owl print. It was the 4 seasons collection from YumiYum.

Adorable! Finding non-frilly boy stuff is not easy but you've done a great job. I'm sure Ryan was pleased it wasn't girly! I think I like the lamp as is to provide some contrast. Like Elizabeth said, a trim in the light blue would be a good way to tie it in.

Merry Christmas! I have a funny story to tell you about your Christmas card and Colin.

Love, love, love the owls! We did a girly version of the owls for the little one's big girl room when we moved her out of the nursery. I will have to investigate and see if I can get that growth chart in a pink version, it is precious!
