**Today's deposition was of a local doctor, and I attended the deposition of an expert physician up in Indianapolis yesterday - here's the funny thing, both are from Cape Town, South Africa! What are the odds of that?! They both had the loveliest accent...I could have listened to them all day, which I practically did!
It was so lovely outside - not particularly warm, mind you, but the sun was out and gave the slightest hint of warmth to the air that has been so painfully absent the past several months. I knew I had to get Alexandra out to enjoy the fresh air, if only for a bit.
Even our dog, Pearl, got in on the action and wanted to get the little girls next door to come over and play - can you believe how high that Lab can jump?!
On a side note, our sweet girl is 22 months old today and I, for one, just cannot believe it. Alexandra never ceases to amaze me with all of the new things that she is doing:
(1) She is counting from 1 to 10...on occasion, she skips from 7 to 10 because she is so excited to shout out the final number, but then she'll throw in 8 and 9 a little late for good measure.
(2) She knows all of her colors, except she doesn't always know which is which - in particular, alot of things are labeled "lellow".
(3) She is becoming fiercely independent - she no longer wants Mommy to hold her on the way into daycare and wants to walk the sidewalk, steps and hall leading into her classroom by herself. I'll admit, it sometimes hurts a bit, but I realize that her growing independence is important.
(3) Her vocabulary seems to grow by the minute...I've lost track of everything she is saying, but a good chunk of her words are...animals. This child LOVES animals.
Every morning and night, Alexandra loves to flip through this book of animals and point out all of the different species, and she is usually spot on (how on earth does my child know to point out a chinchilla and meerkats??). Some animals are crowd favorites, and she ALWAYS laughs whenever I point out the woodpecker. I have no earthly clue why, but we always laugh to hear her laugh when she hears the bird's name!
There's also a matching section where you can match a detail shot of an animal's skin or fur with the corresponding animal on the opposite page. The past few times Alexandra has seen the above picture of a leopard's fur, instead of saying leopard she will say "Mommy". Gee, I have no idea why she would associate animal print with Mommy.....
It's hard to believe that we will be planning her 2nd birthday here before too long (sniff, sniff). As you can guess, I'm sure it will be Sesame Street themed!

Yes, the post did help a great deal! Now I just need to talk the hubby into letting me get one. :)
It is amazing how fast they grow! She is such a little cutie!
cute pics! Such a cute pic of the doggie too!
She is so adorable! Charli Beth loved that book, also! She still goes through them just to show off how much she knows! Little ones grow up so fast!
That's funny about the leopard print, my 3 yr old does the same thing. She thinks it's "Mimi's color" because my mom is the QUEEN of leopard print.
What a joy-filled expression on Alexandra's face! So beautiful.
It's been so nice to get out and let our children play outdoors, hadn't it? This winter has seemed particularly long and nasty.
I love, love, love her animal book and laughed at her comparison to mommy and the leopard spots. Mybe she knows both are stylish and fabulous?
Have a great weekend!
Cheers to sunshine and peek-a-boo Spring! And isn't Pearl so darling?!
What a smart little girl you have! And how funny about the leopard print - I love that!
Oh what darling pictures of Miss A! It's warm in OK today and hopefully I can take my Miss A to the park!
I didn't really take a photography "class", I just met with a professional photographer here for an afternoon "play date". He's become a friend of mine and actually took Addi's newborn pictures. I think I'll post some of those soon...They were amazing!
Hi Sara, your daughter is adorable and so if your dog!! I can't believe he can jump that hi! I checked out that bracelet that was on your wish list! did you get it yet??? I am becoming a follower of your blog!
Your pictures are amazing!!! She is so adorable!
When I was younger and learning to count, I could get to eleven, and I was always so excited to get to it, I'd throw my arms out and yell it. Once I did this in the backseat of the car with my grandma and nearly broke her nose. So watch our for that.
Their minds are like sponges, they just absorb everything they learn. Wes and I constantly remind each other that they have nothing else to remember so that's why their recall skills are so great. I wish I could say the same for mine!
Oh how I miss the Sesame street days with my little boy! Such a precious little girl you have, Enjoy!
So cute and they grow so fast, don't they?
We have that same book and my boys loved it.
I just love fun children's books.
I am enjoying the sunshine too. Still cold but I will take the cold if we have some sun.
Happy Friday.
she is such a doll~ they grow so fast! I also love an accent :)
I SO miss 18 months - 2 yrs!! Such a precious age when they're always doing new and cute things. It's awesome that you're documenting it too...I didn't blog at the time but I took tons of video and I'm so glad I did!
Love the swing pics! Our little one has the same swing and loves it! Thanks for stopping by my blog. The action setting that I mentioned is really just the sports setting ( the little running man) I use that a lot because I can take 20 or 30 pics in quick sucession in the hope of catching 1 or 2 clear ones! I use a 1G memory card in the camera so it can hold a ton of pics until I have time to review and delete. Most days I take 50 -100 and keep only 10-15. My photography skills are very much a work in progress! It is very trial and error since I never made it all the way through the instruction book!
That dog pic rules!
