Easter "Egg"stravaganza

Greetings from sunny Kentucky! (Not so fast there, Sara - lest you forget that the unfortunately dressed local weather gal is calling for rain EVERY SINGLE DAY this week. Boo! Hiss!).

What a wonderful weekend we have had! We were supposed to start out Saturday morning with an Easter egg hunt at Alexandra's daycare, but a quick rain shower quickly cancelled those plans. Instead, we ran a few errands and then when the sunshine promptly returned that afternoon, we had our own little Easter egg hunt for one special little girl - right in the backyard!

I knew Alexandra would be getting a ton of candy this weekend, so I used these eggs that I picked up at Target which were filled with Little People characters.

Alexandra really got excited about her first Easter egg hunt, pointing out all of the "eggies" and yelling out the color of each egg she found...

Are you getting tired of pictures yet? I hope not, because these next 2 are my favorites:

After all of the egg-hunting merriment, the sweet girls next door came over to play. Alexandra loves it when she gets to play with the "big girls"! She runs after them giggling, and climbs up the slide just after them. We got such a kick out of watching the three of them interact yesterday.

Early Saturday night, I pulled out of our guest bedroom closet a very large, very pink, singing bunny that Alexandra received last Easter from her Granny Sharon. She LOVED playing with it, and this video is priceless. I don't know if it is the Sumo wrestler stance at the beginning, the dancing that immediately follows, the very droopy diaper and little Buddha belly, or the sight of the poor bunny getting tackled at the end of the song - but I adore this video and I am so happy we have this fun, sweet moment recorded for prosperity.

We awoke to another beautiful, sunny day today and a little something from the Easter bunny...

Of course, Pearl was intrigued and had to sniff things out...

Our little family of three ventured out for a nice brunch and then headed to my hometown to spend the afternoon at my Mamma's home. It was a little tough at times, expecting to see my Pappa sitting in his favorite chair - it was the first time we had all been assembled since the funeral a few weeks ago, but it was a light mood today and everyone had a wonderful time. I'm sure Pappa was watching over us and was tickled to see all of his great-grandchildren having a ball.

The only word I can use to describe this picture is JOY.

Alexandra was very intrigued by this cornhole set in the backyard. (For those of you who don't know what cornhole is, read this. And yes, this cornhole set is emblazoned with the John Deere logo.).

Showing her Daddy how she liked to play the game.

In the end, Alexandra gave the game her own personal spin...

All in all, a wonderful Easter afternoon! What you don't see a picture of is the aftermath of Alexandra concluding the day by eating some of the crayons that the Easter bunny gave her - I have no idea why she nibbled on them instead of her candy, but it was a MESS with crayon EVERYWHERE. Thank goodness for washable, non-toxic crayons! I know I have a curious 23 month-old on my hands, but eating crayons?!?!

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter Sunday!

Oh, those pink & green Easter suits just kill me. I remember what a special time that was, shopping for my Easter outfit each year.

I'm sorry about your grandfather's passing, by the way. How nice that you all were able to honor him & celebrate together for Easter.
