(Four days at the track. Four outfits. Four days of walking around for hours in high heels. Breathe, Sara, breathe...it's a marathon, not a sprint!)
I have received so many lovely comments in response to my posts about Derby attire, and many have requested that I share pictures of the outfits and hats that I picked out for the week. I promise to share them in my next post on Tuesday, after I have a chance to pick up the hats and fascinator. My friend, Anna, is creating them - she is so incredibly creative and has designed hats the past few years. Her hats can be found at Blink Boutique in Louisville, and she also does custom orders. Her work has been featured a few different times in the Courier Journal (here's one cute feature). She has been a busy girl this year as her work is in high demand - she's even designing Vanessa Minillo's Derby hat! I'm so excited for her, though I'm sure she will be ready for Derby season to be over! I can't wait to see the finished product - here are a couple of her hats that were featured at Blink.

It was a rather low key weekend for us - maybe that was a subconscious decision made by Ryan and I as we are getting ready for a whirlwind week. It rained ALOT but that didn't seem to put a damper on the two very casual cookouts we attended last night and tonight! At tonight's cookout, Alexandra got her first taste of Derby pie, and I think it was love at first bite - I wish I had a picture! If you've never heard of this little slice of heaven, you can read more about it here.
For the fifth Sunday in a row, our little family of three headed out for brunch. Before Alexandra was born, Ryan and I liked to go out to eat usually once a weekend, but do not do that as much anymore since that usually coincides with Alexandra's bedtime. We wanted to include her and thought it would be nice to start a new tradition with brunch each Sunday. This has been a wonderful little ritual for our family, we enjoy it so much! A few of the Sundays have been spent at Mimi's, but when the wait is not too long, we go to Wild Eggs.

Look at that spread, doesn't it make your mouth water! If you're ever in the Louisville area, you have to make your way over to one of their two locations. And if you are a good Southerner and like grits, FORGET ABOUT IT - Wild Eggs has the best grits I've ever had, hands down. Their "Grits of the Day" on our most recent trip were Feta and Bacon - need I say more?!
The rest of the weekend was spent running errands. On my second trip to Kroger this afternoon (yes, I said SECOND), I was skimming through the magazine section of the grocery store while waiting for a prescription to be filled when my eyes landed upon this:

How gorgeous is that image?? I stopped dead in my tracks, picked up a copy and flipped right to the cover story on Princess Grace (which you can read here). Each photograph was more stunning than the next. Grace Kelly had a classic, timeless beauty that many have tried to replicate (some with more success than others). Here's just a few of the beautiful photos from the feature:

Wow, what a random post this has been! I will be out of state on a work trip tomorrow, but will be sure to post pictures on Tuesday of the Derby hats Anna made for me - HAPPY DERBY WEEK!
