Alexandra's big, smiling eyes were certainly a welcome sight today after a particularly stressful Monday. Elmo was on so her attention couldn't be diverted for the first couple of minutes, but then she took my hand, commanded me to walk, and we went on a little jaunt through the kitchen.
After getting a little pre-dinner snack of raisins, we returned to the living room to watch the rest of the Sesame Street episode. Alexandra watched from her little chair for a minute or so, and then crawled into my lap and laid her head on my chest. I couldn't help the sigh that escaped my lips while she made herself comfy. I held her little hand with my own, laid my head against her headful of curls, and thought of the only word that could describe that moment ... CONTENTMENT.
We finished up dinner with bathtime, followed by PJs, storytime, and then to bed. I watched her roll over into her little corner of the crib - she is too big for the corner but she likes to wiggle her way into a little spot, a comfort thing, I suppose - grab her "baka" (code name for blanket), and tuck her baby doll underneath her arm. She turned those big blue eyes onto me and then told me "bye bye" and "I love you."
Seriously. Turned to mush right there on the spot. My heart swelled with so much love I thought it would burst into a million pieces.
Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined how sweet motherhood can be!

Oh how I love it when mine tell me they love me, without me saying it first. You know they feel your love toward them and they articulate it like only a little one can. So divine!

isn't that just the best feeling ever!!! addi is just now learning to mumble in her words "love you" and it's the sweetest thing ever in the world! being a mom is the BEST!!!
P.S. I'm sure she will love the zoo!
What a sweet and tender moment. On the rare occassions Colin actually sits still, he'll sometimes let me play with his hair or rub his back. No matter what kind of day I've had, that always puts a smile on my face. I love the "I love you's" and now he's moved on to a heartfelt "I missed you today Mommy." Talk about a tear jerker!
This post is so beautiful, I just loved reading it (and read it three times, it is so sweet). You have a such a beautiful mother's heart, I can't wait to experience this joy myself one day in the hopefully not too distant future :) XOXOXOX Thank you for sharing your happiness with us!

and! Oh yes I was going to complain about their prices in my post but I try to keep things positive around here hehe I think maybe that's why I love it so much there, I buy things from there only once in a while. Actually, I have only ever bought one thing from there and they are mugs I am using for centerpieces at our wedding in September. Sigh* I am there with you :) xx
Melting over here! So sweet and special!
Such a sweet post. Your daughter is an absolute doll. Nothing sweeter than a baby girl. Even when they're all grown up :)
